John Surtees, the only man to win a world championship on 2 and 4 wheels, has just added another world exclusive on his record.
It is indeed the first person to cross the Channel tunnel driving an electric car.
The vehicle in question was not any, because this was a Ginetta G50EV, a prototype electric car by the small British manufacturer of sports.
"It must not be claustrophobic," said the former F1 driver in the British newspaper the Telegraph, "the tunnel is very narrow in places, but most impressive is the degree of engineering that it represents."
His skills of pilots have not really been tested since the trip took place at speeds below 50 km / h.
The event took place under the "37th Burlington Beaujolais Run." The annual rally is to raise funds to support charities.
For this 37th edition, the beneficiaries are the Richard Burns Foundation to support cancer victims and the association 'CLIC Sargent' support for child victims of cancer and leukemia. In total, 400 000 pounds (about 452 000 euros) were collected by the rally.
